President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made a heartfelt plea to Ghanaians, asking them not to inject politics into the flood situation experienced in the North, South, and Central Tongu constituencies of the Volta Region.

He stressed that the adverse consequences of the Akosombo Dam’s spillage should unite citizens in concern.

During his visit to Mepe and nearby areas to assess the extent of the damage caused by the spillage, President Akufo-Addo emphasized that politics should not interfere when the government responds to such emergencies.

He further assured that his government would exert every effort to ensure that necessary assistance reaches flood victims in the Eastern, Greater Accra, and Volta regions due to the excess water released from the Kpong and Akosombo Dams.

Additionally, the President highlighted the role of the inter-ministerial committee in providing immediate relief to victims and preventing future disasters of this magnitude.
