DVLA, Ministry of Transport to introduce electric, and driveless vehicles
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) of Ghana has unveiled an ambitious plan to revolutionize the country’s transportation landscape through innovative technologies.
Collaborating with the Ministry of Transport and various stakeholders, the DVLA aims to introduce electric and driverless vehicles into Ghana’s transportation ecosystem.
This groundbreaking announcement came during the inaugural International Driver and Vehicle Licensing Innovation Conference, a gathering of experts in the transportation sector, held in the capital city, Accra.
In a bid to advance and modernize the country’s transportation system, the DVLA seeks to harness cutting-edge technologies and explore new horizons in the field.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Prince Opoku Edusei, emphasized the significance of this initiative, bringing together experts in the transportation sector to deliberate on its future.
“We aim to bring together experts in the transport space to deliberate on the future of transport,” he said. “We all know several transformations have emerged globally as far as transport is concerned.
“We now have vehicles that drive themselves, vehicles that can even fly. Too many technologies are being introduced as far as transportation is concerned.”
This forward-thinking approach aims to keep Ghana at the forefront of these innovations, positioning the country for a more efficient, environmentally friendly, and advanced transportation system.
The collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and other stakeholders underscores the government’s dedication to ensuring that Ghana remains at the cutting edge of the transport industry, adapting to the latest technological trends and ushering in a new era of transportation.
