Democracy Hub to protest in December for Akufo-Addo’s resignation
Democracy Hub, the organization behind the #FixTheCountry movement and #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests, has announced its plan to conduct a picketing event from December 1st to 31st, 2023, at the Jubilee House.
Their goal is to call for the resignation of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo or his impeachment by Parliament.
The group expressed concerns about what they perceive as the President’s incompetence, lack of integrity, abuse of power, and greed in his leadership.
They also highlighted issues such as high youth unemployment, economic mismanagement leading to increased poverty, reduced press freedom, extrajudicial killings, and the persecution of activists advocating for democratic reforms.
The picketing, titled “#OccupyJulorbiHouse” and #JustResign”, will take place at the Jubilee House, specifically the publicly accessible side facing Liberation Street. Democracy Hub demands the immediate resignation of the President and the prosecution of corrupt officials, including those within the President’s inner circle.
The group assured that they would establish and publish comprehensive picketing guidelines to ensure a peaceful and orderly event.
Earlier, on September 21, Democracy Hub organized a three-day protest called #OccupyJulorbiHouse, during which numerous protesters, including a BBC journalist and cameraman, were arrested. The protest aimed to draw attention to the economic hardships faced by Ghanaians due to what the organizers perceived as the government’s inaction and indifference.
