SNV Ghana Committed To Develop And Promote GrEEn Businesses In The Western Region

The Netherlands Development Organisation SNV has pledged its commitment to partner stakeholders to help develop, create, and promote green businesses in the region.

Mr. Laouali Sadda, the GrEEn Projects Manager at the SNV, said the organization will continue to partner with stakeholders to provide business development support to entrepreneurs to begin their green businesses.

“In 2021 and 2022, we partnered with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and the Association of Ghana Industries to organize four job fairs at the regional level in Kumasi and Takoradi. We organized the 5th job fair in Kumasi last week, and today marks our 6th and final regional job fair.

Green Regional Job Fair has two main objectives: to inspire young people to seek and explore green job opportunities and solutions in TVET and then to expose participants to career pathway opportunities within the green value chain in WASH, Agriculture and renewable energy. We will also be providing business development support to entrepreneurs and encouraging more youth to kick start their green businesses,”

Mr. Laouali Sadda outlined that the SNV Netherlands since 1992 rolled out interventions that are focused on promoting access to basic services in three areas of expertise i.e. agriculture, energy, and water.

Adding that GrEEn project is one of the key projects that has and continues to drive system change.

The Project Manager, however, highlighted communities such as Ahanta West, Wassa Amenfi, Nzema East and the Jomoro Municipality in the Western Region as being beneficiaries of the Green Project since the invention of the project.

Senior Development Planning Officer of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations Emmanuel Kwasi Adjei pointed out some of the interventions implemented to mitigate the effects of climate change as well as create jobs.

” The National Green Job strategy developed by the Ministry of Employment and Labour relations and social partners aim at harmonising ongoing green interventions, building green skills for the youth and financing green enterprises to create the needed employment opportunities for our teeming youth, ” He pointed out.

Over 40 businesses registered to participate in the job fair to offer jobs to youth, women, and returning migrants who participated in GrEEn Job Fair.
