Security guard who murdered businesswoman convicted of theft
Allister John, the primary suspect implicated in the murder of a 35-year-old businesswoman in Sokoban, has been found guilty on two charges of theft against Gloria Morrison, another businesswoman residing in Bantama, within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly of the Ashanti Region.
During a trial at the Asokwa Circuit Court, John faced charges of stealing a mobile phone valued at four thousand Ghana cedis and pilfering a sum of GH¢167,666 in cash from the complainant.
According to the police, Allister John had previously worked as a receptionist at a Bantama hotel alongside the complainant in 2022. However, he departed and later returned to the establishment in July 2023.
Upon his re-employment at the hotel, the complainant had requested his assistance in adjusting her phone’s settings. However, he absconded with the phone.
Subsequently, he accessed the phone and used the mobile app to withdraw the GH¢167,666 from the complainant’s bank account.
The verdict for both counts is scheduled to be announced at the Asokwa District Court on Friday, October 6, 2023.
