Sam George criticizes Governor for ignoring OccupyBoG demonstrators

Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament (MP), Sam George, has strongly criticized Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison for his absence during the receipt of a petition from the Minority, which calls for his removal.

Mr. George alleges that Dr. Addison deliberately avoided the Minority due to the substantial crowd at the #OccupyBoG protest.

In a media interview on Wednesday, October 4, Mr. George emphasized that the NDC MPs will not back down on their demand for the Governor’s resignation.

“We were told stories that he wasn’t well and later told that he would come and receive our petition, and we stood there for an hour and more and still failed to show up and sent a watchman to come and meet us,”Mr. George stated.

“I’ve always maintained that man (Dr. Ernest Addison) is a coward, and we will protest till he comes out to receive our petition,” he said.

Dr. Addison was notably absent when the NDC MPs attempted to deliver their petition.

The leadership of the OccupyBoG protest was met by Wing Commander Kwame Asare Boateng and other Bank officials, who explained that Dr. Addison was engaged in a meeting with a team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), making him unavailable to accept the petition.

The Minority has expressed disappointment and disapproval of Dr. Addison’s decision.
