Former Minister for Tourism and Chief of Agomeda, Nene Nagai Kassa VIII, known in his private life as Mike Gizo, has urged Ghana to reconsider its leadership structure to ensure that competent individuals are entrusted with the responsibility of governing the nation.
He expressed concerns about the current political landscape in Ghana, where people from various backgrounds can become leaders without the necessary qualifications or competence.
Nene Kasa VIII, in an interview on Accra-based Citi TV, emphasized the need to reassess the quality of leaders the country produces, noting that it has become a widespread trend for individuals to vie for positions as Members of Parliament, District Chief Executives, or Ministers without the requisite qualifications.
He added that such a situation is unique to Africa and Ghana and called for a more selective and rigorous process to determine who should hold leadership positions in the country.
“I think we should go back and look at the people that we are producing for our leadership. You can’t do this in other places except for Africa and Ghana.”
