The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the vote transfer and replacement of lost or defaced ID cards will commence today, Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chair in Charge of Corporate Services at the EC, explained during an interview that this window will last for seven days, ending on October 9, 2023, allowing individuals to transfer their votes or obtain replacement ID cards.
Dr. Asare further added, “For the replacement of the cards, we have not announced an end date yet. It is only the transfers which are ending on October 9, including Saturdays and Sundays. But for the card replacements, if you go to any of our district offices from Monday to Friday, they should be able to replace it for you once you have evidence of payment.”
To facilitate the replacement of ID cards, the EC has introduced a shortcode, 2221067#, for payment, and applicants are encouraged to use this method.
