Protesters assemble in Accra for the #OccupyBoG demo
A significant number of protesters have gathered at Obra Spot in Accra for the #OccupyBoG protest, organized by the NDC minority group in Parliament, the pressure group Arise Ghana, and other organizations.
They are demanding the resignation of the Bank of Ghana’s governor and his deputies.
The protesters are alleging that Dr. Ernest Addison, the governor, has mismanaged the central bank and driven it into financial distress.
Protesters also accuse him of overseeing extravagant spending, including the construction of the new $250 million Bank of Ghana headquarters.
The protest route includes Obra Spot, Adabraka, Ridge roundabout, the National Theatre traffic light, the High Court complex traffic light, and the Atta Mills High Street.
Afterward, they will turn around at the National Lottery traffic light and conclude the protest at Independence Square.
Some members of parliament who have already joined the protest include Francis Xavier Sosu from Madina, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa from North Tongu, and Bede Ziedeng from Lawra.
