NDC makes an appeal to EC for an extension of the limited voter registration exercise

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appealed to the Electoral Commission (EC) to extend the limited voter registration exercise due to challenges faced by the Commission.

The EC initiated the registration process in all district offices in September, and it was originally scheduled to conclude today, October 2.

During a press briefing, the EC announced that it had successfully registered over 600,000 eligible voters.

However, Mustapha Gbande, a Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, emphasized the need for the EC to ensure that all eligible applicants have the opportunity to register before the exercise concludes.

Gbande pointed out that some individuals have been waiting in line for several days at registration centers and should be allowed to register before the deadline.

He urged the EC to allocate additional resources, including machines and staff, to accommodate the individuals who have been patiently waiting in queues, particularly in areas like Asuogyaman, where people have been lining up for several days.
