Roads Ministry reopens the Doli Bridge on a temporary basis

Doli Bridge

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has officially reopened the Doli Bridge to traffic on a temporary basis. This bridge, which serves as a critical link between the Upper West Region and southern Ghana, had been severely damaged due to heavy rainfall on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Following the destruction of the bridge, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwesi Amoako-Attah, conducted an inspection visit on September 19, 2023, and assured the public that repair work would be completed within a week.

Due to the bridge’s closure, travelers between southern Ghana and the Upper regions were forced to take alternative routes through Sawla-Fufulso and Techiman to reach their destinations. Despite the delivery of necessary equipment and boulders to the site, repair work initially progressed slowly.

Videos capturing the moment when the Doli bridge was temporarily reopened have been shared on the Ministry of Roads and Highways’ Twitter account.
