Hamisu Danjibga, a seasoned Nigerian radio journalist, was discovered deceased in the north-western Zamfara state, three days after he was reported missing.

Danjibga had a lengthy tenure with the Voice of Nigeria (VON), during which he extensively covered the pervasive insecurity in Zamfara state.

He was declared missing early on Monday, but his lifeless body was subsequently found in a pit located behind his residence.

The VON, in an official statement, asserted that the journalist had been abducted by “terrorists” and characterized his demise as a murder.

Various press organizations, including the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), have decried the alleged killing of Danjibga.

In response to the incident, Zamfara state Governor Dauda Lawal has ordered security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation.

Fellow journalists noted that Danjibga’s distinctive broadcast voice set him apart during his extensive career as a reporter spanning decades.
