All arrested protesters released after disrupted #OccupyJulorbiHouse demo in Accra

In a recent turn of events in Accra, Ghana, all 49 protesters who were apprehended during a disrupted demonstration towards the Jubilee House on Thursday, September 21, have been released from police custody.

The dramatic events unfolded at the 37 bus terminal, where protesters had gathered for the planned demonstration on that fateful Thursday morning.

The police action came after they cited an application to halt the protest, which had allegedly been submitted and served to the legal team representing the organizers, Atuguba & Associates, as early as Tuesday, September 19.

However, the organizers of the protest, hailing from Democracy Hub, maintained their innocence, claiming they had no knowledge of the application. In their resolve to voice their concerns, they chose to proceed with the march, despite the looming uncertainty.

Confirming the release of the protesters to the media, one of the organizers, Oliver Barker Vormawor, expressed relief that almost all of those arrested on Thursday had been released.

However, the group still searches for one missing member, unable to reach him due to their phones being seized by the Police.

Amidst these developments, members of the group and some notable celebrities, including Efia Odo and EL, gathered at the 37 Lorry station, determined to press on with their protest. Their unwavering spirit shines through, as they remain resolute in their commitment to their cause despite the arrests and alleged intimidation by the police.

Addressing the media after the first day of the protest, the group issued a strong condemnation of the police actions and reiterated their unwavering intention to continue the protest—a demonstration of courage and resilience in the face of adversity.
