Burna Boy delays Johannesburg show amid rumored internal issues
Nigerian artist Burna Boy has postponed this weekend’s live performance in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The concert, which was scheduled for the FNB Stadium’s 90,000-seat venue, will now take place on December 16, according to the event’s ticketing agency.
According to Ticket Pro, among other things, the concert’s postponement was caused by “lack of ticket” sales.
But according to a report in Nigerian media, Burna Boy’s management firm Spaceship accuses the concert’s promoters of failing to uphold their “contractual, financial, production, and technical obligations.”
It said that the ticketing companies must ensure that ticketholders are fully refunded.
“Sadly, it is with great regret that we must inform you that, despite my team’s effort, the show in Johannesburg… will be cancelled,” the Punch newspaper quotes the management company as saying in a statement.
“Production vendors have still not been paid and as such, it is evident at this point that the agreed production standard needed for this venue size cannot be achieved,” it adds.
“Deepest apologies to all fans, looking forward to seeing you all soon,” it added.
