Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a commitment to complete all unfinished projects, including those initiated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, if he is elected in 2024.

He emphasized that the NDC is a patriotic and responsible political party that believes in the principle of continuity and is determined not to squander taxpayers’ resources.

Mahama made this promise during the NDC Greater Accra Regional Zongo Caucus Stakeholders Forum held in Accra on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

The forum brought together representatives from various Zongo and Muslim communities and institutions within and outside the party to share experiences and discuss common interests, fostering social connections and a sense of community.

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, was among the notable figures present at the forum.

Mahama’s commitment came after he accused the current administration of neglecting significant projects initiated by his party, particularly in Zongo communities, before leaving office in 2016.

He expressed his concern over the abandonment of several E-Block schools allocated to Zongo and Muslim communities and emphasized the NDC’s commitment to fulfilling its promises.

He expressed gratitude for the support the party has received from Zongo communities and the Islamic fraternity and pledged not to take it for granted. Mahama highlighted the party’s intention to continue collaborating and engaging with these communities to address grievances and concerns.

Mahama encouraged eligible citizens to participate in the ongoing limited voter registration and urged officials in charge to refrain from discriminatory practices based on individuals’ names, emphasizing that unity in diversity is what makes Ghana a strong nation.

The NDC Greater Accra Regional Zongo Caucus Coordinator, Ismaila Ali Horoya, organized the forum to harness the immense potential within the neighborhoods and provide opportunities for Muslim youth.

Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the NDC Greater Accra Regional Chairman, called for greater party unity in preparation for the upcoming elections and called on all members to support the regional chapter’s “Agenda 25,” aiming to increase the total votes by 500,000 in Greater Accra.
