Adwoa Safo declares her intention to run for the Dome-Kwabenya seat again
Sarah Adwoa Safo, the NPP Member of Parliament representing Dome-Kwabenya, has announced her candidacy for the 2024 election.
Adwoa Safo, who has been in Parliament since 2012, recently issued public apologies to the President, Vice President, and the NPP leadership, acknowledging that her actions had repercussions for the party.
During her absence of nearly a year, there was a void in both Parliament and the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, where she served as Minister.
Following a tour of her constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo told reporters that she had already informed the party of her intention to seek re-election.
She stated that Politics relies on numbers, and if it aligns with God’s will and the people’s desire, she will seek re-election.
The New Patriotic Party has endorsed the MP’s public apology, with Haruna Mohammed, the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, expressing positive sentiments and emphasizing that her apology reflects well on the party’s reputation.
He said, “She has done something positive, and the party welcomes her apology.”
However, some NPP executives in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency have received Adwoa Safo’s apology with reservations.
The NPP constituency Secretary for Dome-Kwabenya, Theophilus Larbi, described her apology as a recurring pattern and suggested that her potential re-election as the parliamentary candidate for the upcoming general elections could have unfavorable implications for the party’s prospects in the constituency.
