Egyptian military delegation arrives in Libya to offer aid
Egypt has sent a military delegation to Libya to show “support and solidarity with the brotherly Libyan people“, according to a spokesperson
The group, led by Egypt’s army chief of staff Lt Gen Osama Askar, will conduct an airlift, beginning with three aircraft carrying rescue teams, food, and medical supplies. People who were killed or injured in the storm will be transported using another aircraft.
Photos of the delegation being greeted by several Libyan military leaders, including Khalifa Haftar, the commander of the Libyan National Army, were posted on Facebook by the spokesperson.
The military spokesperson also stated that Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi had ordered his military to “offer all types of humanitarian support including medical teams, rescue equipment and makeshift camps”.
