The state of infrastructure, particularly roads, has been a major concern for the people of Sekondi-Takoradi.
About this narrative, some Members of the Concerned Group of Takoradi, a pressure group have lamented the state of roads in the region, drawing the attention of the city authorities.
Speaking in an interview with Arafat Musa, the host of the Western Echo on Beach FM, about the state of roads in the Metropolis, accessing the level of development in the region, Bishop, a member of the group lamented how frustrating it is for residents to reckon with unmotorable roads in the city.
Bishop says taxes are being paid therefore they must see results on the roads.
He also called on the youth in Sekondi Takoradi to make their voices heard until they see the results.
“Should I come and tell you to go and do it? We pay taxes and stuff and we pay that road-worthy taxes. So what do you use those monies for? We are not crying that much and I think that the youth in Sekondi-Takoradi are not angry enough. Of course, if we are really angry, these things wouldn’t be happening. trust me, my brother “
Bishop said the members of the concerned groups will keep pushing on their agenda to get the roads in Sekondi-Takoradi fixed.
“We are getting somewhere now; at least we have seen something on the road. Whether it came from us or not, we have seen a sign and we will keep pushing. Use the road from Kwesimintsim to Axim, Awusiejo, Bianho. But for some of these things, they will tell you that the road is under contract but we do have timelines. You submit a project, then they give you a deadline for it.
So why can’t they come out and tell us? And now you are talking about your PTC interchange, are they working over there? Go and check, there’s no work going over there. “
” They will finish in 2036. Sometimes when we talk, people will tag and stuff. Don’t let somebody tell you to do something before you do it. We have brains. That’s why we are human beings.
You sit down and you see that something is happening here, I’m on highways and I work there, I’m also a human being and I have family who might get involved in an accident on the road. What do you mean my brother? Let us not sit down o”
