To be honest, we were expecting 70% votes for Bawumia -Sammy Awuku reveals

Campaign Manager for the “Bawuima for President” campaign team, Sammy Awuku, has revealed that the group aimed to secure 70% of the delegates’ votes for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) super delegates conference on August 26.

With a total of 629 votes, or 68.15% of the total votes, Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia came first in the Super Delegates Conference.

“I am going to be very honest with you, we were expecting to get 70 percent of the votes based on all our polling and profiling ahead of August 26. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get that, but we had 68.1 percent and so for us as a campaign team, we spent the last six days doing a review, region by region, and so far we have done fifteen out of the sixteen regions,” he said.

Mr. Awuku further rejected assertions that the Vice President had an advantage over other candidates because most of the super delegates were government appointees.

“People may not have necessarily done the analysis of the voting bloc. So, when they look at the super delegates, the first thing that comes to mind is that these people are all government appointees. And that is a very false analysis. And if you proceed on that tangent, the likelihood that you will be making some projections and getting them wrongly is there. Because if you take the 929 people who voted on August 26, out of the number, the biggest voting bloc is the constituency chairmen, with 276. We are also talking about 272 regional executives, then 137 MPs, then 17 national officers, and also the diaspora representation of 81”, Sammy Awuku added.

Sammy Awuku urges Alan’s campaign team to support Bawumia’s quest to break the 8

The Alan Kyerematen Campaign Team has received a unifying appeal from Sammy Awuku, a key member of the “Bawumia for President Campaign team,” urging them to support Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s plan to “Break the 8” in the impending 2024 General Elections.

Following the resignation of Alan Kyerematen, a candidate for the NPP flagbearer position, Mr. Awuku stressed in a statement that this is not the time for internal party strife or for making disparaging statements that could aggravate existing wounds.
