Authorities in Koforidua are currently probing the separate and unexpected deaths of two women that occurred on Monday morning.
The initial incident involved an elderly woman who tragically lost her life when she was struck by a speeding taxi at the Koforidua Old Estate Junction.
An eyewitness recounted that the victim was hit by the fast-moving taxi while attempting to cross the road. Following the incident, the taxi driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.
In a parallel occurrence, residents of Gyamfikrom near Dabi Asem in the New Juaben North Municipality awoke to the grim discovery of the lifeless body of a middle-aged female market vendor.
She is suspected to have been assaulted and killed by unidentified attackers.
The exact motive behind this unfortunate event remains unclear. Nonetheless, law enforcement, upon visiting the scene to transport the deceased to St. Joseph Hospital, initiated an investigation.
They are appealing to both residents and the public at large to come forward with any information that could assist in their inquiries.
