The Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, has re-echoed for supporting local businesses in the region.
He made this call during the climax of the 40th Anniversary of the Lower Pra Rural Bank at Shama.
According to the Regional Minister, the region can prosper with the suitable investments and support given to young entrepreneurs.
“I want you to invest some of your money in the businesses of young people, not more than 35 years. There are so many incubation hubs that are springing up in the Western Region. You can listen to them, guide them, let them start and business and you can grow them. They will be the people to create the 10,000 jobs. If we can invest in the ideas of our young people in the region, we will never be broke again.”
Mr. Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah further encouraged the bank, as part of its corporate social responsibility to equip the public with financial literacy education.
He said, “I want you to continue to invest in financial literacy. One of the biggest challenges we have in this country is that people do not know what money is all about.
Money is not for expenses, it is for investment.
I want you to make sure financial literacy is part of Corporate Social Responsibility. When more people start to invest and create wealth, they will be putting the money here in your bank.”
For his part, the Managing Director of ARB Apex Bank PLC, Curtis W. Brantuo implored the citizenry to invest in the bank to enable it to undertake developmental projects.
“We wish to call on the current shareholders and citizens of Shama, both home and abroad, to purchase additional shares in the bank to help shore up the capital base of the bank first, to undertake more big ticket financial intermediation projects, and second, to support micro, small and medium enterprises and individuals engaged in productive sectors of the local economy of Shama and the surrounding towns and villages.”
