Show The Spirit Of Maintenance Culture – Director of Ports To Residents Of New Takoradi

Locals residing in New Takoradi, a fishing community within the Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, have been urged to adopt and show the spirit of maintenance culture.

This comes on the heels of a handling over a newly constructed Ghana Inshore Fishermen Association, GIFA workshop built for the fisher folks by the Takoradi Port.

The gesture was to meet the demands of the fisher folks.

At the commissioning of the facility, the Director of Ports, Mr. Peter Amoo Bediako noted that the workshop is to fulfil its promise of positioning the community for economic growth leading to development.

Mr. Armoo Bediako called for collaboration between the institution and the community.

Adding his voice to the call, the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, stressed the need to ensure frequent maintenance of the facility.

Secretary of GIFA in Sekondi Takoradi, Mr. Eric Kofi Otoo mentioned that the facility would be put to good use and called for support from Takoradi Port.

The facility is part of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority’s, GPHA’s resolve to build a modern maintenance yard for the fishers to help them keep their canoes and other fishing gear in good shape to help most of their operations.
