Agric Minister calls on flagbearer aspirants to withdraw from race, support Dr. Bawumia and be remembered
Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Food and Agric, has called on the other New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer contenders to withdraw from the race to support Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2024 election.
According to the Abetifi MP ‘serious politicians’ must take note of the outcome of last Saturday’s Super Delegates’ Conference.
In the present situation, the Agric Minister claimed that Dr. Bawumia’s resounding victory shows that the party spirit is behind him.
On Tuesday, August 29, the outspoken politician asserted on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen that any candidate who withdraws in the interest of the party will be remembered by the party faithful.
“I am a very rational person, and in my opinion, the Super Delegates’ Conference last Saturday negates the need for the election on November 4. It is completed, and I would especially appreciate any candidate who chooses to resign due to the length of the process and the possibility of conflict. Given the disparity in percentages, there wasn’t much of a contest here; the exercise on November 4 will be pointless.”
“The NPP has a spirit and it’s inevitable that Dr Bawumia will win massively. My wish is for all the other aspirants to withdraw and save the party all the stress and they will be remembered”, the Agric Minister added.

NPP Super Delegates Conference outcome not surprising -Prof Gyampo
Professor Ransford Gyampo, a distinguished Political Science expert at the University of Ghana (UG), has indicated that the result of the New Patriotic Party‘s (NPP) super delegates conference, held on Saturday, August 26, was not surprising.
The super delegates conference, a critical stage in the NPP’s selection process, saw Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia secure a resounding victory with 629 votes, constituting 68.15% of the total vote count.
Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, emerged as the second-highest vote-getter, amassing 132 votes, equivalent to 14.30% of the votes. Former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen secured the third position with 95 votes, making up 10.29% of the total votes cast.
