Tinubu trims Nigeria’s delegation to UN General Assembly
Bola Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, has directed that the delegation that will represent his country at the upcoming UN General Assembly be reduced in an effort to cut back on government spending.
President Tinubu gave a directive on Monday to the US embassy in Nigeria to only grant visas to Nigerian government officials who will actively participate in the UN event, which is slated to take place in New York City the following month.
Furthermore, Mr. Tinubu argued that the Nigerian mission in New York ought to accredit only representatives of the government who will play specific roles at the General Assembly.
The president also instructed representatives going to the US to limit the number of assistants and support staff they bring to the UN meeting, admonishing those who disobey the instructions that they will be kicked out of the delegation.
