“President Akufo-Addo, I will give you a showdown in this country, I swear to God” – Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
The Assin central member of Parliament , Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) threatens the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo and his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The flagbearer aspirant, blames these two leaders for the attack on his agent during the Special Delegates Conference on Saturday , August 26 2023 at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) campus.
In a widely circulated video, Mr. Agyapong is seen speaking in a furious tone on a phone call threatening the two leaders over alleged attacks on his agents. He was heard saying, “President Akufo-Addo, I will give you a showdown in this country, I swear to God. Vice President, I will give you a showdown for chasing my agent away. I swear to God. You will hear what will happen here. I swear to God, I will challenge President Akufo-Addo big time.”
However, speaking on the sidelines of the New Patriotic Party to the media with regards to the issue , the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Hon. Bernard Antwi Bosiako , also known as Chairman Wontumi says, it cannot be possible that Kennedy Agyapong’s agent was attacked due to the strong supervision by the police. Therefore, it is not true that Mr. Agyapong’s agent was attacked in any form.
The reaction of Mr. Agyapong in the widely circulated video has caught the attention of the party’s disciplinary committee.
A statement was signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kondua Frimpong on Sunday, August 27 2023, summoning Kennedy Agyapong to appear before the disciplinary committee of the party to explain his threats against the two leaders.
Four other persons will also be summoned before the party’s disciplinary committee for misconduct.
“Pursuant to Article 10(7)(5) of the NPP Constitution, certain individuals namely: Mr. Raphael Patrick Sarfo, Mr. Charles Dokyi Yaw-Addo, Mr. Musa Sulemana and Mr. Hopeson Yaovi Adorye will be summoned to appear before the Party’s Disciplinary Committee.
This is a direct response to evidence, including video and photographic materials, which suggests potential violations of the provisions outlined in Article 3(5)(A) of the Party’s Constitution and potential misconduct under Article”, the statement said.
