NPP presidential aspirant Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, has refuted claims that he has withdrawn from the party’s competitive presidential primaries.

In a succinct statement, Mr. Agyarko categorically rejected such claims as unfounded and reaffirmed his unwavering readiness to take part in the upcoming run-off to break the tie between him and flagbearer hopeful Francis Addai Nimoh.

After Boakye Agyarko and Francis Addai-Nimoh tied with nine (9) votes each in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential race held on Saturday, the New Patriotic Party has scheduled a run-off for Saturday, September 2.

The Special Delegates Conference was set up to narrow the field of candidates to five before the final vote on November 4, 2023, but both candidates secured nine votes, tying the position of fifth.

If neither of the two candidates withdraws, the party will hold a second election on Saturday, September 2, according to Mike Oquaye, the chairman of the elections committee, in a statement to the media.

With a total of 629 votes, or 68.15% of the vote, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won the super delegates conference.

According to the results, Agyapong and Bawumia have both qualified for the NPP‘s presidential primary elections in November.

Neither of the two men has previously sought the office of president. Kyerematen on the other hand has been running since 2007, but has never been able to win the party’s nomination.
