Following his spectacular three-goal performance against Ludogorets during the first leg of the UEFA Europa League playoff round, Mohammed Kudus has humbly reflected that the game isn’t on of his best games with Ajax.
The Ghanaian international played a superb role in propelling the Dutch team to a resounding 4-1 victory on foreign soil, setting the stage for their prospective qualification to the group stages.
While the match on Thursday night marked Kudus’ inaugural career hat-trick and seemed to rank among his standout performances for the club, the player himself has offered a modest perspective.
He believes that despite his instrumental contribution to the match’s outcome, he has showcased better performances in his time with the team.
Responding to inquiries about proving himself, Kudus dismissed the notion, asserting that he executed his role as he always does—contributing to the team’s victory. He expressed satisfaction with the collective efforts of his teammates, highlighting their outstanding performance and the ultimate attainment of victory.
“No [I had nothing to prove]. I just did my stuff like always for the team to win. Glad everyone was top and we got the win,” he said.
“This was my first hat trick but I don’t think it’s one of my best matches. I think we goals, yeah, but performance, I have had better than this.”
Recent suggestions have emerged that the Ludogorets match could potentially be Kudus’ final appearance for Ajax. The player himself acknowledged this possibility at the close of the fixture.
