GRA generates GH¢500m through its VAT compliance initiative
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has reported that it has raised approximately GH¢500 million from its nationwide VAT compliance campaign.
This initiative, which aims to target businesses that have not been applying the VAT, has been actively enforced by the GRA this year.
Speaking at the 11th Annual Tax Conference held in Accra, Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, the Commissioner General of GRA, highlighted the substantial increase in VAT compliance.
He shared that the initiative was launched on June 6 and, by July 30, around 3,600 enterprises that were involved in imports and hadn’t previously registered for VAT, took the step to register when informed that goods clearance would only be possible for registered entities.
