W/R Minister assures resumption of construction works on Takoradi PTC Interchange amid concerns
The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, has assured inhabitants of the region, that works on the ongoing PTC Interchange project in Takoradi will be resumed by the end of September this year.
This affirmation comes in the wake of speculation surrounding the fate of the Takoradi PTC Interchange, a vital infrastructure project situated in the heart of Sekondi-Takoradi. Concerns arose at the Minister’s community engagement with residents of Amenful West on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, due to the apparent cessation of construction work by Power China Sino-hydro Construction, the contracted entity, for several months.
“Works on the interchange will resume by the end of September this year. We have been able to complete 83% of the project so far…we are left with just a little to totally complete it”, the minster responded.
The interchange project, designed with three tiers, spans a 30-month timeline and is strategically positioned to alleviate traffic congestion in the central business district. The intention is to facilitate the redirection of access to this area, ultimately enhancing traffic flow in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis while establishing seamless connectivity to neighboring towns, districts, and other segments of the region.
The unexpected delay in construction works raised alarms within the community. However, the Western Regional Minister has laid uncertainties to rest by assuring the populace that all government-led endeavors initiated under the administration of President Akufo-Addo in the region will be successfully completed.
The reiteration of this commitment underscores the government’s dedication to the comprehensive development of infrastructure and the enhancement of quality of life within the Western Region.
