Nigerian former oil minister charged with corruption
British police claim to have filed bribery charges against Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former oil minister of Nigeria.
The UK National Crime Agency stated that it believed she had accepted bribes in exchange for awarding multi-million dollar oil and gas contracts.
Ms. Alison-Madueke, who is also a former Opec president, served in the administration of former Nigerian leader Goodluck Jonathan from 2010 to 2015.
She is alleged to have benefited from cash payments totaling tens of thousands of dollars, private jet travel, opulent vacations for her family, and access to numerous London properties.
She disputes the accusations.
She is presently residing in London, according to the police, and she will testify in court in October.
