Tragic accident kills one person, injures another on Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway
A tragic incident unfolded on the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway in the Central Region, resulting in the loss of one life and critical injuries to another individual. The accident involved members of the Church of Pentecost and occurred at Gomoa Otsew.
Reportedly, a fatal collision transpired between a bus carrying over 22 members of the Church of Pentecost Tarkwa branch and a Diesel truck. The collision led to immediate fatality and left another passenger in a critical condition.
The driver of the Diesel truck, who had just returned from Ivory Coast, provided his account of the incident.
He explained that upon reaching Gomoa Otsew, another vehicle executed an illegal overtaking maneuver and forcefully cut in front of him. To avoid colliding with the reckless driver’s vehicle, he veered off the road and into a nearby patch of bushes.
Tragically, fate took a grim turn as the Church of Pentecost bus rammed into the rear of the truck after the evasive maneuver. The resulting impact led to the loss of one passenger’s life and inflicted injuries on several others.
ACFO Adolf Ankomah Nuamah, the Apam District Fire Commander, conveyed that medical attention was promptly provided to the injured party. The injured individual is currently under treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
“Around 5:30 pm, we received a distress call about an accident involving a Man Diesel truck from Ivory Coast, a Toyota Coastal bus carrying members of the Church of Pentecost, and a Nissan Navara bus from Accra.”
“According to the driver of the Man Diesel truck, another vehicle made an illegal overtake, forcing him to collide head-on with the Nissan Navara and the Toyota Coastal bus. One person from the bus was run over. There were twenty-two people on the Coastal bus, but one died and one was seriously injured. They were taken to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.”
