The overall price level was 43.1 per cent higher in July 2023 than it was in July 2022, according to the inflation rate for that month, which was 43.1 per cent year over year.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for July 2023 was 191.0 compared to 133.5 for July 2022, representing a monthly inflation rate of 3.6 per cent between June 2023 and July 2023.
At a news conference on August 9, 2023, in Accra, the Government Statistician of the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) Professor, Samuel Kobina Anim, said “Food inflation (0.427) was 55.0%; last month’s food inflation was 54.2% and the month-on-month food inflation rate was 3.8%.
Non-food inflation (0.573) was 33.8%-last month’s non-food inflation was 33.4 % and month-on-month non-food inflation was 3.4%”.
He stressed the fact that inflation for locally produced items was 37.5% and inflation for imported items was 45.7%.
