The Accra Circuit Court has taken action in the Cecilia Dapaah case by remanding five of the accused individuals, while granting bail to two nursing mothers.

The bail was set at GH¢1 million each, and they are required to provide three sureties who must be able to substantiate their financial standing.

Two domestic aides who served the former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah, and her husband, Daniel Osei Kuffour, have appeared before the Accra Circuit Court. They are facing allegations of embezzlement involving substantial amounts of money and valuable items.

These alleged thefts are said to have taken place at the couple’s residence in Abelemkpe, a suburb of Accra in the Greater Accra Region. The accused, Patience Botwe (18 years old) and Sarah Agyei (30 years old), reportedly misappropriated funds and personal belongings belonging to the couple over the course of several months from July to October 2022.

In addition to the two house helps, Patience (A1), her current and former boyfriends, as well as her father, have also been brought before the same court as part of this case.

Amid public outcry and calls for her resignation, Cecilia Dapaah eventually stepped down from her ministerial role due to allegations of illicit acquisition and storage of funds.
