It’s Not Shameful For Ghanaians To Do Afrobeat, But They Should’ve Held On To Hiplife-Reggie Rockstone
Veteran Ghanaian musician Reggie Rockstone has asserted that it’s never shameful for Ghanaian musicians to jump on the afrobeat genre even though it originated from Ghanaian’s highlife genre.
Per the rapper’s statements, Nigerians are dominating their Afrobeat genre because of their numbers, their money and their unity and it’s normal for Ghanaians to also jump on it.
“It’s never shameful for Ghanaians to hop on the afrobeat genre.
The Nigerians are many in numbers and even in terms of money and investors they’re way up making their genre known worldwide. It’s okay for Ghanaians to join the afrobeat genre”.
The grandpapa of hiplife slammed Ghanaian artists for not being able to hold on to hiplife even though they’re into afrobeat.
“Afrobeat originated from Ghana’s Highlife and the Nigerians give us our credit. However, Ghana’s music industry would’ve gone far if they still held on to the hiplife genre because that is our own. Americans do other genres but never let go of their hip hop”, He fumed.
Reggie Rockstone still believe hiplife is not dead and there’s more hope of reviving it.
