Founders’ Day: President Akuffo Addo Calls On Ghanaians To Fight For Economic Development.

President Akuffo Addo has justified setting aside August 4 as Founders’ Day noting that it is an appropriate way to recognize the collective efforts of the country’s fore-bearers in the fight for independence.

In a televised address last night, the President said Ghana is considered a beacon of democracy and stability in Africa with the rule of law and respect for individual liberty, and the principles of democratic accountability are part of the governance structure due to the efforts of the founding fathers.

He said what the current generation might fight for and win is economic development.

“66 years after independence our nation is considered a beacon of democracy and stability in Africa where the rule of law is to respect individual liberties and human rights, and the principles of democratic accountability are part and parcel of the government structure.

These are the very things for which our fore-bearers fought the battle our generation must fight and win is rapid economic development,” The President said.
