W/R: 43,051 Candidates Expected To Sit For 2023 BECE

The Western Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Madam Felicia Okine has disclosed that 43,051 students have been registered to sit for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE.

She indicated that out of this number, 21, 671 are males whilst 21, 380 are females.

According to Madam Agyeibea Okine, the students have prepared well and are not perturbed as compared to previous years.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,313 schools would participate in this year’s. She added that the examinations would take place at 134 centres across the Western Region.

Also, a total of 600,714 candidates, comprised 390,323 males and 300,391 females from 18,993 participating schools.

The number of candidates who registered for this year’s BECE was 8.8 per cent higher than the previous year’s entry figure of 552,276.

With regards to the BECE for private candidates, a total entry of 1,743 candidates was recorded.

She said they have advised invigilators and students on examination malpractice and debunked rumours that the private part of students are to be thoroughly searched before exams.
