Bad Road Network At Butre: Residents Share Frustrations

The Divisional Chief of Butre in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region, Nana Egya Butia X has called to the attention of authorities on some of the deplorable road networks in his community.

Addressing journalists, Nana Egya Butia X said the roads are in a sorry state and need to be fixed as soon as possible.

He said the community feels neglected as they cannot boast of any better road system.

” This is one of the roads that link one community, Ahuntumano to the Butre community. I’m highly disappointed in the government because this project was commissioned by one Oil company but what we heard was that the government has diverted the funds for the project.

We the people of Butre are now facing the consequences. It looks like we are not part of the country, ” He said.

According to him, the road serves as a linkage between other communities.

He expressed disappointment at the authorities for not constructing the roads which hampers socio-economic development.

Nana Egya Butia X said residents who have to access healthcare at Dixcove use the same road network which does not augur well for them.

Some road users who are made up of pupils, motorists and others shared their frustrations with using the road.

He contends that the deplorable road can affect the psychological makeup of the JHS candidates yet to sit for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations, BECE.
