Ahanataman SHS Students Appeal For Library Facility
The Head Girl of the Ahanataman Senior High School, Sheridan Sam Onuawontoh has appealed to the government and corporate bodies in the Western Region to provide the school with a modern library complex with adequate books.
She made this appeal during the school’s 75th Anniversary celebration. She said a modern library facility would facilitate teaching and learning in the school.
The school’s Anniversary celebration was themed, ” 75 Years of Promoting Discipline as a Tool for STEM Education: The Role of Stakeholders.
With a student population of 2,728, she indicated the library could accommodate only 40 students at a time.
Ms Sam Onuawontoh said the current library complex was an old classroom block that was converted into a library, adding that the books need an upgrade as they are of little relevance.
” The books currently in stock at the library have gathered so much dust that they are of little relevance for the current technologically inclined students,” She said.
Head Mistress of the School, Madam Ernestina Kankam adding her voice to the calls, stressed the need for the school to be provided with a library complex, and said, after 75 years of nonexistence, the school could not boost a library complex.
Past students, stakeholders and parents also made some monetary contributions towards the construction of the facility.
