“Maladministration of Akufo-Addo; the biggest threat to the survival of our constitutional democracy” -John Mahama
The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC’s) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has expressed his concern about the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration’s mismanagement, saying that it is the biggest threat to Ghana’s democracy.
Mr. Mahama urged Ghanaians to remove the current government in the 2024 elections in a Facebook post on July 31. He said doing so would save the country.
He thinks that the nearly seven years of Akufo-Addo and Bawumia administration rule have jeopardized Ghana’s constitutional democracy.
He contends that the only way to guarantee the longevity of democracy and give the populace new hope is to replace the current ineffective NPP administration with the NDC administration.
The biggest threat to Ghana’s democracy, according to NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama, is the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration’s poor leadership.
In a Facebook post, the former president urged Ghanaians to vote out the current government in the 2024 elections in order to save Ghana.
“Transparent and accountable governance in which opportunities are open to all and not just a few is the greatest guarantor of our democracy.
“The almost seven years of Akufo Addo and Bawumia’s maladministration is the biggest threat to the survival of our constitutional democracy. Only a CHANGE in this inept NPP government can ensure the sustainability of our democracy.
“The next NDC administration will work to restore hope to Ghanaians quickly. The business-as-usual approach to governance, lies and propaganda will not work. We cannot and must avoid repeating the mistakes of the NPP.”
The former President also criticized President Akufo-Addo on Saturday, July 29, 2023, for the behavior of his appointees.
President Akufo-Addo, in Mr. Mahama’s opinion, appears to have forgotten his earlier counsel to his appointees to look for opportunities in the private sector if they are looking for personal enrichment.
John Mahama expressed his concern over how President Akufo-Addo’s appointees’ current actions significantly diverge from the warning they received from the President six years prior.
Mr. Mahama delivered these remarks to the Academic City University College‘s graduating class of 2023.
“Some of you who will find yourself in politics, I wish to sound a note of caution, as President Akufo-Addo said if your goal into office is to enrich yourself, then don’t come, go to the private sector.
“Very profound words were spoken by the President, more than 6 and a half years ago. With what is happening today, I’m sure the President himself does not remember he spoke these very wise words.”
