Adisadel College: Osei Owusu believes the case should have been resolved outside court’s jurisdiction

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joesph Osei-Owusu, has expressed a different perspective on the prosecution of the perpetrator involved in the Adisadel College assault incident.

During the 10th-anniversary celebration of Fettehman Senior High School, the Deputy Speaker suggested that the school’s authorities should have handled the matter rather than taking the culprit to a general court for trial.

He emphasized the importance of examining the upbringing of children in the country, considering it a crucial factor in preventing such violent incidents. While condemning the act perpetrated by the student, Osei-Owusu believes that the culprit could have been counseled, allowing him to focus on his studies for a better future.

Expressing concern over declining disciplinary standards, Osei-Owusu questioned the moral upbringing of Ghanaian children and called for conscious efforts to instill discipline among them.

Regarding the lack of adequate infrastructure in Fettehman Senior High School, the First Deputy Speaker urged the Member of Parliament to raise concerns in the Parliament for further action. He also encouraged students to uphold strong moral values and integrity.

The school is facing an infrastructure deficit, with insufficient facilities for its large student population. Students even have to eat under trees due to the lack of proper dining facilities.

The school is in the process of constructing a bungalow for the headmistress, seeking support from the government and well-meaning Ghanaians to complete the project.

The Regional Director of Education for the Central Region acknowledged the challenges with infrastructure in several schools and assured that efforts were being made to address these issues with support from the government and the community.
