NSS Personnel Share Diverse Views On Increment Of Monthly Allowance

Following the announcement of the increase in the allowance for National Service Persons, some personnel in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis have reacted to the development.

While some welcome the news, saying it will help cushion them a little due to the harsh economic circumstances, others are unhappy due to how the allowances are paid by the government.

Currently, the NSS personnel say some months are in arrears and they are not convinced the announcement will make any difference.

Some of them spoke to Beach News expressing diverse views.

Management of the NSS in a statement dated July 18, 2023, and sighed by the Deputy Minister for Finance, Abena Osei Opare, indicated that the approval and increment came as a result of a series of engagements between the National Service Scheme, Fair Wages and Salary Commission and the Ministry of Finance.

The statement added that in effect all national Service personnel who are currently entitled to arrears for the difference in the upward adjustment from January 2023 would be paid accordingly.
