Starting today, Monday, July 24, the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) will commence receiving three months’ worth of their outstanding allowances, which had been delayed for five months.

The non-payment of these allowances had significantly affected the trainees, making it challenging for them to cope with their expenses.

According to Jephthah Nana Kwame, the president of the trainees’ association, the Ghanaian government has released GH₵241 million to stakeholders for disbursement, and the funds are now ready to be deposited into the trainees’ accounts.

He mentioned that they have engaged with relevant authorities, including GTEC (Ghana Tertiary Education Commission) and the Student Loan Trust Fund, who have acknowledged the receipt of the funds and are processing the disbursement.

Nana Kwame emphasized the importance of continuous and timely disbursement to cover the remaining outstanding payments.

The GH₵241 million provided by the government is intended to cover the entire academic year, and the trainees expect the disbursement process to be efficiently carried out without further delays, ensuring they receive the outstanding allowances for the months they spent on campus from January onwards.
