Numerous reports have flooded the offices of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), urging an immediate investigation into a significant sum of money allegedly stolen from former Minister for Sanitation, Madam Cecilia Dapaah.

According to reliable sources, prominent individuals have submitted over 200 reports expressing concerns about the source of the stolen funds, purportedly taken by two house helps working for the former Minister.

Madam Cecilia Dapaah resigned on July 22, 2023, following revelations that her house helps were involved in the alleged theft of substantial amounts of foreign and local currencies from her residence in Accra. The incident has shocked the nation, leaving citizens astonished by the audacity of the theft.

The two house helps, Patience Botwe (18 years old) and Sarah Agyei (30 years old), are currently facing charges before an Accra Circuit Court in connection to the theft. It is alleged that they stole an astounding sum of $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghanaian cedis from Madam Dapaah’s residence in Abelenkpe, Accra, between July and October 2022.

Although the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) has not announced an official investigation into the scandal, it is important to note that the OSP does not necessarily require a formal report or petition to initiate a probe into suspected corruption cases.

Social media has also witnessed calls from Ghanaians, urging the Special Prosecutor to expedite the investigation into the source of the stolen funds.

The situation has left many Ghanaians seeking answers, as Madam Dapaah has yet to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin of the monies stolen from her home, which she shared with her husband.
