Authorized officers of the OSP are currently questioning Ms. Dapaah as part of the ongoing investigation.
This development follows numerous reports received by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, urging an immediate inquiry into a substantial sum of money stolen from the former Minister’s premises. Over 200 reports were submitted by prominent individuals, expressing concerns about the source of the stolen funds, which were allegedly taken by two house helps working for the former Minister.
Madam Cecilia Dapaah’s resignation on July 22, 2023, came to light after revelations that her house helps were involved in the theft of significant amounts of foreign and local currencies from her residence in Accra. The incident shocked the nation, leaving citizens astonished by the audacious nature of the theft.
Currently, two house helps, Patience Botwe (18 years old) and Sarah Agyei (30 years old), are facing charges before an Accra Circuit Court for their involvement in the theft. It is alleged that they stole an astounding sum of $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghanaian cedis from Madam Cecilia Dapaah’s residence in Abelenkpe, Accra, during the period between July and October 2022.
