Bawumia to supporters – Don’t attack candidates who insult me
As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership race gains momentum, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has emphasized the significance of conducting a clean and respectful campaign.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that once the internal contest is concluded, the party must unite as a cohesive force to prevent the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from returning to power. Therefore, he urged that the internal election should not be marked by acrimony.
Speaking to party supporters in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Bawumia stated that he has instructed his supporters and spokespersons not to engage in retaliatory attacks against aspirants who criticize him.
He emphasized the importance of unity within the party, emphasizing that all factions must recognize the need for a united front against the “main enemy,” which he identified as the NDC.
“We must conduct a clean campaign, avoiding any form of insults,” stated Dr. Bawumia. “We are one family, and we must remain united. Once the contest concludes, we will come together as a cohesive force to ensure the NDC does not return to power.”
The NPP is scheduled to elect its flagbearer for the 2024 elections on November 4. As of now, all 10 flagbearer hopefuls have been cleared to participate in the upcoming elections.
