GNCCI Calls For Removal Of Taxes On Some Goods

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, GNCCI, Mark Badu-Aboagye has appealed to the government to scrap some taxes on certain goods.

According to him, businesses are faced with difficulties in running their operations due to these high taxes.

Mr Aboagye in a media interview advised the government to support the manufacturing sector to lessen the importation of goods and inflation.

He observed that the recent inflation rate released by the Ghana Statistical Service was influenced mostly by the importation of foods. Mr Aboagye believes that most developed countries have made it through manufacturing and thus if the One District, one factory is supported it can help the manufacturing sector grow.

Mr Badu Aboagye reiterated that the amount of money used in importing goods can be used to create more jobs in the country.

He mentioned that there should be an efficient way of collecting taxes instead of introducing new ones.
