MP for Jomoro Donates Building Materials To Six Schools For Renovations
Six elementary schools have received building supplies from Hon. Dorcas Afo-Toffey, the Member of Parliament for the Jomoro constituency, for refurbishment.
Gyegyekro Basic School, Cocoa Town Basic School, Alenrezule Basic, Tikobo Number 2 Basic School, Anlomatuope Basic School, Mpaesem Basic School, and Elubo Basic School are the institutions.
The Jomoro MP renovated a four-classroom unit block at Mpaesem Basic School by raising the block, plastering, and roofing the entire school, and adding a donation of Ghc10,000 to help finish the balance of the project.
The fact that one classroom at Elubo Basic School could hold more than 100 students grieved Hon. Dorcas Afo-Toffey. Therefore, the MP gave sand, roofing sheets, and an undisclosed sum for the completion of two incomplete classroom blocks in the vicinity to help the school relieve the congestion.
She noticed during her visit to Tikobo Number 2 Basic School that the infrastructure of the school had not been painted in 20 years, therefore she had the Primary and Junior High School blocks painted. Additionally, metal poles were built for the volleyball court and football field.
Since the Alenzule Basic School was one of the schools under trees, the kids had to study regardless of the weather, which presented another significant problem.
The community planned to build their own facility from primary one to six in order to create a suitable atmosphere for teaching and learning, but the project was put on hold owing to a lack of funding.
Since there was no water in the school for construction, Hon. Dorcas Afo-Toffey increased the water supply to the school and offered them money to finish the project.
For the start of the project, the MP contributed bags of cement, a triple of sand, and roofing sheets to the New Ankasa M/A Primary School, which had two classrooms for the nursery department and an office for instructors but had not yet been plastered.
