Accident: Over 50 people injured on the Accra-Cape Coast highway
A multi-vehicle accident at the Gomoa Okyereko junction on the Accra-Cape Coast stretch has left two passengers in critical condition and 55 others with minor injuries.
Three vehicles were involved in the collision: an articulated truck with the license plate 349 HF 01 and a Yutong bus with the license plate AS-850-21, as well as a Honda CR-V with the license plate GW-970-20.
All of the passengers in the Yutong bus, according to the police source, were traveling from Ho in the Volta Region to Ivory Coast.
In a media interview, the Honda CR-V’s driver, James Nii Ayi, claimed that the articulated truck had been improperly overtaking before the collision.
According to James Ayi, the accident happened when the Yutong bus struck the back of his car following a careless overtaking maneuver.
The injured people have been taken urgently to local hospitals for medical care while authorities look into the accident’s precise cause and hold those responsible accountable.
