Alan, Bawumia, 8 other aspirants cleared for NPP flagbearer race

All 10 of the candidates running to be the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer in the 2024 elections have been approved by the vetting committee for the presidential primaries.

Here are the aspirants:

  • Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen
  • Mr. Kwadwo Poku
  • Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
  • Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko
  • Kwabena Agyei Agyapong
  • Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
  • Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku
  • Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie
  • Joe Ghartey
  • Francis Addai-Nimoh

The NPP’s general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, announced this in a statement.

Mr. According to the statement, the Vetting Committee submitted its report to the NPP National Council on July 10, 2023, in accordance with Article 10(3) of the party’s constitution.

He stated that the recommendations of the Vetting Committee would be discussed by the Party’s National Council on July 20, 2023.

Super delegates conference 

Per the rules of the game, if more than five aspirants qualify to contest, the party will convene a special electoral college of 900 delegates to select five candidates for the final round.

So far, all 10 aspirants have been cleared for the contest.

This means that, the governing party will in August convene a special delegates conference to select five candidates to contest the November 4, 2023, presidential primary.
