The WHO’s recognition of Ghana in the fight against neglected tropical diseases was hailed as positive news by President Akufo-Addo.

Additionally, a high-level committee formed by the Heads of State and Government will study the development of the ECOWAS single currency in depth.

Additionally, ECOWAS received praise for the smooth running of the elections in Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

Additionally, Mossa Faki, the president of the African Union Commission, asked ECOWAS to make use of the Junta process and the Accra initiative’s tools to expand cooperation.

In addition, from July 2023 to July 2024, Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would lead the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in place of General Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea-Bissau.

Mr Tinubu is taking part in the ECOWAS Summit for the first time as president.
